The Topaz Brooch is a common utility item in Risk of Rain.Grants the player a temporary barrier of 15 (+15 per stack) on kill. It hangs on the chest under the head like an actual brooch.

The amount of barrier can't exceed the player's max HP, (ie. At 400 max HP and 100 shield, the player can have at most 500 barrier). If the player has Shaped Glass, the max barrier the player can have is halved along with their max HP.

Barrier degenerates at a rate of 3.33% of the player's max HP per second.
