Shaped Glass is a Lunar item in Risk of Rain 2.

Like all of the other Lunar items, Shaped Glass has a powerful effect and a notable drawback.

Upon pickup, this item increases the damage dealt by the player by 100%, but reduces their maximum life by 50%, with additional pickup adding 100% more damage, and further reducing the player's maximum health by 50% per pickup.

Though incredibly risky when collected, the item does have substantial benefits, especially in higher difficulties where enemy and boss health values begin to reach absurdly-high values, and essentially gives the player "permanent" crit damage, though crits will still occur and result in even higher damage potential. The damage bonus is applied to nearly every item the player owns as well, such as Gasoline, Will of the Wisp, etc.

Two distinct visual effects occur when a player has Shaped Glass. One effect is the player's health bar becomes sectioned, with one part being their health, and the other being a slate of slightly cracked glass. When a player dies while under the effects of Shaped Glass, they explode violently into dozens of glass fragments - leaving no trace of their presence in the world.

Trivia

  • This item is most likely a reference to the concept of a "glass cannon" or a "glass sword", a weapon or a character with great damage dealing potential but shattering upon use, i.e not having defensive capabilities.
  • The item's shape may be a reference to a Prince Rupert's Drop, a drop of glass that is tough enough to be bulletproof in one end, but shattering instantly(and explosively) when even nicked on the other.
  • This item may be a reference to the Glass artifact from Risk of Rain, which massively increased the player's damage output at the cost of severely reduced maximum health.
