USS stands for United States Ship. HMS stands for His (or Her) Majesty's Ship. So it seems to follow that UES stands for something that starts with U. E. and ends with Ship. I propose that it is United Earth Ship, but maybe it's because I watched a lot of Star Trek, where Earth's future is imagined as a united confederacy of cooperative governments called United Earth, and the space exploration authority is called United Earth Space Probe Agency, or UESPA. Of course, this is speculation.
