Trivia

• This item has a delivery date of 1993, which is drastically different to most other items in game and is impossible without bending time, assuming that the date of the game's events are in the future from the present day.
• The name Dio is a reference to the artist and programmer of Risk of Rain, Duncan Drummond's, cat.
  • "Dio" is the italian word for "God".
  • Upon unlocking Dio's Best Friend, the player will also get the achievement "Sole Survivor." This is a reference to a lyric from the song "Holy Diver" by Dio, the namesake of Drummond's cat.
  • The item is also a reference to the main antagonist of the anime and manga "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," Dio Brando, who was also named after the band Dio and its frontman, Ronnie James Dio.
• This item and the Time Keeper's Secret are the only two items that are consumed upon use.
• If two are held at the time of death, the icon on the screen will still say that two are present.
• If Dio's Best Friend revives the player and they die again later, the death screen will display the enemy that caused the player's initial death.

Note: This item does not stack abilities. If you have more than one and die, all of them will be consumed, but from that point you will be able to collect another one
